What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the website, we collect the information shown in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also known as a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you are registered with the service. The Gravatar service’s Privacy Policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images that contain embedded GPS location data (EXIF data). Visitors to the website may be able to download images and extract any location data contained within them.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our website, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website address in cookies. This is for your convenience, so that you do not have to enter these details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will remain for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set several cookies to store information about your login and your screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while cookies for screen display preferences last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, the login cookie will remain for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you have just edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this website may include embedded content (such as videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content. This may include tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to the website in question.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically rather than holding them for moderation.
For users who register on our website (if applicable), we also store the personal data they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal data at any time, with the exception that they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account or have left comments on this website, you can request an export file containing the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data that we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where We Send Your Data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
